- Skyr is said to date as far back as the 9th century.
- The main difference between Icelandic and Greek yogurts is fat content. Greek yogurt may be fat free, but skyr is only made with non-fat milk, so it’s always fat free.
- Unflavored skyr is roughly 12% protein, 3% carbohydrate, and 0.5% fat.
- It is traditionally served cold with cream and sugar as a topping.
- It is high in calcium and vitamins commonly found in milk products.
- Skyr has almost no added sugars or other unhealthy ingredients. The Siggi's skyr I tried has just a little agave.
